We have opportunities for all types of volunteers...

THE ADVOCATE

Ombudsman volunteers visit long-term care facility residents, inform them about their rights, and advocate for the betterment of their lives

THE ADVENTURER

Volunteer drivers with Meals on Wheels Endless Mountains travel the area delivering nutritious meals to isolated older adults in the community.

THE LEADER

Volunteers at local Active Living Centers instruct various group activities, assist with meal service, and help out with the daily functions of the center.

THE NURTURER

The Foster Grandparent program connects role models like you with young people with exceptional needs. AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers who serve with in the Foster Grandparent program provide the kind of comfort and love that sets a child on a path to a successful future.

THE TEACHER

PA Medicare Education and Decision Insight volunteers are trained to inform beneficiaries about various benefit programs and insurance plans, helping to navigate the Medicare system.

THE ATHLETE

Health & Wellness program volunteers instruct fitness classes and hold educational seminars about preventative services and proactive approaches to health.

THE COMPANION

The Senior Companion Program allows you to spark a change in the life of a lonely, often isolated senior in your community. AmeriCorps Senior volunteers who serve with the Senior Companion program provide companionship, independence and friendship to a senior in need.

THE SOCIALITE

Friendly visitors provide a friendly visit to let the older person know they are valued, that someone cares, and provides an opportunity for companionship. Also, provides a safety check to a consumer who may be homebound.

Through contributions of time, energy, inspiration, and expertise, volunteers often report they receive more than they give.
They gain experience, make connections, and feel a sense of satisfaction from knowing their time has a direct influence on older individuals' lives.

Volunteers must meet eligibility requirements, including background clearances.
Costs for clearances are covered by B/S/S/T Area Agency on Aging, Inc.
Training is provided and mileage reimbursement may be available.
